A New Hanover County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a head-on collision on Eastwood Road today.
According to sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer, Deputy T. Caulder was attempting to turn left into the Eastwood Village neighborhood on Rogersville Road just before 2 p.m. when a driver hit him head-on.
A man in a white Nissan Pathfinder crossed the center line on Eastwood Road and struck the deputy.
Both drivers were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan–Wayne Thomas Blackburn–was charged with careless and reckless driving by Wilmington police, Brewer said.
