A Greensboro woman was shot Saturday night while watching fireworks on Darlington Avenue in Wilmington.
According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley, the 22-year-old shooting victim drove herself to the hospital after she was shot in the leg just before 11 p.m. Saturday. The woman told police she was a passenger in a car and the driver dropped someone off at the Market North Apartments at 1111 Darlington Ave.
A crowd was gathered nearby and when the car slowed to watch the fireworks, someone opened fire.
“They heard several gunshots ring out and never saw where the gunshots came from,” Rawley said.
The woman was struck in the leg. Information about her condition wasn’t immediately available.
No suspect information was available. The investigation is ongoing.
