UPDATE: The following boil water advisory was lifted Friday at 1:34 p.m.

A water service outage and boil water advisory is scheduled Thursday for residences in the Cabbage Inlet area off Masonboro Loop Road.

Crews with the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will be conducting sewer work in proximity to a water main feeding the area, requiring the outage that is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Other addresses affected include all of Mason Knoll Drive, all of Mason Knoll Court, and the 8100 and 8200 blocks of Masonboro Sound Road.

Once service is restored, residents in the area will need to boil water while the advisory is in place, typically a 24-hour period. Water should be boiled before drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food, washing produce and preparing baby formula. Water does not need to be boiled prior to bathing.

The authority notes inclement weather forecast for Thursday could end up postponing the outage and advisory. Customers can find out the latest on the advisory by calling the CFPUA’s information line at 332-6500. Information is also available at cfpua.org.
