A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a Wilmington man on Friday will make his first court appearance in New Hanover County District Court today.
Shelby Lentz has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Martin Yakimovich, who died Friday night from multiple stab wounds sustained during a domestic dispute at a home at 318 McRae St.
“Witnesses told police the stabbing occurred after Yakimovich and 19-year-old Shelby Lentz got into an argument,” Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley said. “Lentz ran from the residence and later turned himself into police.”
Lentz was taken to the New Hanover County jail where he is being held under no bond.
Friday night’s stabbing death was the first homicide of 2014, Rawley said. The investigation is ongoing.
