Two local organizations are teaming up to help area residents make the transition to “Obamacare.”

The South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC) has partnered with the cancer support nonprofit Women of Hope to offer three informational sessions–one each in Duplin, Brunswick and New Hanover counties–about the Affordable Care Act, often referred to as “Obamacare.”

The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Duplin Winery Bistro, at 505 North Sycamore St. in Rose Hill. Another is set for Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 101 Stone Chimney Place, located at 101 Stone Chimney Road in Supply. And the last one takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Executive Development Center, located at 1241 Military Cutoff Trail in Wilmington.

All three sessions are 6-7:30 p.m.

The seminars will cover the basics of enrolling for insurance through the new marketplace. Information will be available for those who are unsure whether they qualify for Medicare or a subsidy, or do not know how the new law will affect them.

Sessions are free but preregistration is required due to limited seating. Click here to register. More information on SEAHEC’s services and programs is available here.
