Four months after wrapping production in Wilmington, the locally-filmed, holiday-themed “Christmas in Conway” makes its television premiere tonight on ABC.

The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie—the second to be filmed in Wilmington in the past three years—stars Mary-Louise Parker as an ailing woman whose husband, played by Andy Garcia, decides the perfect Christmas gift for his wife is a ride on a Ferris wheel, reminiscent of the one they were on when he asked her to marry him.

To pull the gift off, he has a Ferris wheel built in their own backyard—much to the chagrin of their neighbor, played by “Saturday Night Live” alum Cheri Oteri, who has entered her garden in an upscale magazine’s “Christmas showcase” contest, according to a synopsis on

The movie was filmed primarily at a home in Wilmington’s Forest Hills neighborhood this summer. Other locations include Greenfield Lake Park, where a nighttime shoot illuminated the lake in late August.

A synopsis on the Hallmark Hall of Fame website describes “Christmas in Conway” as “a testament to love, filled with scenes of hilarity.”

Co-starring Mandy Moore and Riley Smith, “Christmas in Conway” airs at 9 p.m. on ABC. A trailer for the film can be seen here.
