Man shot in home invasion released from hospital, charged with multiple felonies

A Leland man who was shot during a home invasion on Colwell Avenue in Wilmington was released from the hospital Friday and taken into custody.

Jamar Hakeem Gordon–one of five suspects who entered the home just after midnight Wednesday–was reportedly shot during the home invasion by a resident, according to police.

The resident will not face charges, police spokeswoman Linda Rawley said.

The suspects were found by police at the intersection of South 16th Street and Robin Hood Lane, where officers reported finding multiple guns inside the vehicle.

Gordon, 27, has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $150,000 secured bond.

Four other suspects are facing similar charges.

Jamaar Tyree Walker, 19, of Wilmington, has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Walker is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $500,000 secured bond.

Angel Domonique Myers

Michael Alexander Betrand, 20, of Castle Hayne, has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Betrand was released from prison June 8. He was previously convicted of second-degree kidnapping Oct. 11, 2012, according to North Carolina Department of Corrections records.

Betrand is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $200,000 secured bond.

Jay Jawan Cromartie, 23, of Castle Hayne, and Angel Domonique Myers, 18, of Wilmington, have been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Cromartie and Myers are being held under a $200,000 secured bond.
