Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) has announced a new director of student services for its North Campus in Castle Hayne.

Lewis Stroud was named director of student services. Stroud is responsible for coordinating admissions, financial aid, counseling, and career and testing services for students, CFCC Spokesman David Hardin said.

Prior to his new position at Cape Fear, Stroud was at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, where he served as senior associate dean of students, Hardin said. Stroud received his undergraduate degree from St. Andrews University and a masters degree in adult education from Trident University International in Cypress, Calif.

Stroud is also a U.S. Navy veteran, Hardin said. In the Navy, he was an avionics technician, and worked on F14 fighter jets.

“I am excited about working with students and helping them achieve their goals. I know what it’s like to be an adult student. I received my masters degree in 2012. I think students will relate to that,” Stroud said.

Cape Fear Community College is currently expanding the campus in downtown Wilmington, the North Campus and adding a facility in Surf City.

“I’ve arrived at CFCC at a very exciting time,” Stroud said. ” The planned expansion will create many additional opportunities for students in this region.”
