Two Tennessee fugitives were captured at Independence Mall Friday afternoon.
Spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department Lucy Crockett said Grady Adam Edwards, 36, an escapee from Tennessee, was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. Friday at Independence Mall. His alleged accomplice, Kevin Roberson, 32, was caught a short time later in the 1900 block of Dawson Street.
The two men had been sought since Thursday, when Edwards escaped from the Northeast Correctional Complex work crew in Tennessee.
WPD Vice, K-9 and patrol personnel assisted the Tennessee Department of Corrections and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in capturing the two fugitives.
Edwards and Roberson are expected to be transported back to Tennessee to face charges. Information about the fugitives’ charges was not immediately available.
