SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — After wrapping forums with New Hanover County commissioner and school board candidates earlier this week, Port City Daily, WECT, WHQR Public Media, and UNCW’s The Seahawk will return to the podium the second week in October to question more candidates on where they stand on issues facing the region. On Oct. 12 and 14, candidates will be welcomed in the N.C. legislature and Congress District 7 races, as well as Brunswick County commissioners.
The forum on Monday, Oct. 12, will be held at UNCW’s Burney Center at 6 p.m. featuring New Hanover County House and Senate candidates, as well as the district’s congressional candidates.
On Wednesday, Oct. 14, the media consortium moves to Leland Town Hall to host the Brunswick County commissioners and the county’s legislative candidates.
Both forums are free and open to the public, and also will be streamed live on the WECT website, app, and YouTube channel, with the livestream shared on Facebook by all outlets.
WECT’s Jon Evans will moderate the forums and reporters from all outlets will take turns asking questions of the candidates. The public can also submit their own inquiries here, as there will be audience questions considered.
The news outlets also have published candidate questionnaires for these races ahead of the election, accessible below:
