The Agenda: This week in local government meetings

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Tuesday, July 28

The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold an agenda review at 2 p.m. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • – Discussion of a public hearing and town hall

The Carolina Beach Town Council will host a workshop at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers. An agenda was not posted by press. Meetings can be streamed here

The Belville Board of Commissioners will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. in the NC Highway Patrol Office. The agenda includes:

  • – Transportation projects update, including request for letters of interest in engineering services
  • – Approval of a contract with Bolton & Menk for the Riverwalk project
  • – Approval of a contract with Gannett Fleming Transystems for the Gullah Geechee Heritage Trail
  • – Closed session discussions on ongoing litigation with Urban Smart Growth and Leland, as well as land acquisition. Read Port City Daily’s coverage here.

The Pender County Board of Education will meet at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 US Highway 117 S. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes: 

  • – Exceptional Children Angels of Care Contract, $104,504 per contract
  • – Exceptional Children RO Health Contract, $143, 098 per contract
  • – Exceptional Children Little Town Learning Center Contract, $94,850 per contract
  • – Coastal Horizons PILA MOA
  • – HES request for 3.5% Increase 

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Sustainability Committee meets in the Jordan Conference Room at 235 Government Center Dr. at 10 a.m. The agenda includes the energy action plan and financial assistance.

Wednesday, July 29

The WMPO Board will meet at 3 p.m. at 525 N. Fourth St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • – Cape Fear Memorial Bridge Unsolicited Proposal
  • – Senate Bill 257 (NC State Budget) MPO/I-77 Provision 
  • – Cape Fear Memorial Bridge – Section 106 – Project Programmatic Agreement
  • – Prioritization 8.0 Regional Impact Tier Draft Local Input Point Assignment
