NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A recruitment session to draw in community members who wish to volunteer their time for the midterm elections is planned this week.
On Friday, June 19, 10 a.m. to 2p.m., residents will learn about serving their community as election officials during early voting and on Election Day at the Senior Resource Center. It’s open to all New Hanover County residents who will work voting sites throughout the county and help ensure elections are conducted fairly, accurately, and efficiently.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with board of elections staff, learn about the responsibilities of election officials, ask questions about the position, and begin the application process on-site.
Positions are available for a variety of roles, with interested individuals required to be least 17 years old; there is required training prior to the election.
Elected officials, candidates for nomination, and campaign managers or treasurers are disqualified from serving.
Anyone who cannot attend the recruitment session in person can apply at NHCvote.com or contact the board of elections at (910) 798-7330.
