Monday, May 11

The Pender County Board of Commissioners will host a budget meeting at 4 p.m. Meetings can be watched here.The agenda includes hearing from:

  1. The schools: Dr. Breedlove
  2. CFCC: Morton
  3. Hearing from county fire department and rescue leaders
  4. Forestry: Jonathan Poluck

The Brunswick County Planning Board will host a regular meeting at 4 p.m. Meetings can be watched here. The agenda includes two public hearings on:

  • A request to rezone Tax Parcel 231IC038 and a portion of Tax Parcel 231IC006 (total of 0.38 acres) from Undesignated to R-6000 (High Density Residential) located off Boones Neck Rd. SW (SR 1137) and Anchor Dr. SW 
  • The Gray Bridge Planned Development, consisting of 400 single family units on 96.43 acres, creating an overall density of 4.15 dwelling units per acre, located on Gray Bridge Road SW (SR 1134) and Shell Point Road SW (SR 1132) near Shallotte.

Tuesday, May 12

Town of Burgaw Council meets at 4:30 p.m. in Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington St. The agenda includes updates from department heads and a public hearing as part of the quasi-judicial hearing for a major subdivision, 75-lot single-family detached residential development located south of Henry Brown Road.

New Hanover County Board of Elections meets at 5:30 p.m. at at 226 Government Center Drive to conduct regular business and discuss election-related matters. The Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen will host a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Meetings can be watched afterward here. The agenda includes:

  • A public hearing for the budget
  • Resolution changing the material capitalization threshold for capital assets
  • Recommendation from the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee about special events occurring between Memorial Day and Labor Day during bridge replacements.
  • Board of Adjustment appointment
  • Consider amending town code on the allowance of alcohol sales at town-sponsored special events.
  • Consider authorizing the Town Manager to execute an agreement with Lighthouse Beer & Wine governing the sale of alcohol at town-sponsored special events and approval of Budget Ordinance (2026) 687-B funding the purchase of alcoholic beverages for resale.

Pender County Board of Elections will meet at 6 p.m. at 305 S. Walker St. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Carolina Beach Town Council will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. Meetings can be streamed here. The agenda includes:

  • A public hearing for the budget
  • A public hearing for a conditional zoning application to bring a pickleball court in the Mixed-Use District (MX) at 1608 Bowfin Lane
  • Discussion on a sidewalk from Carolina Beach Lake to Spartanburg
  • Recognizing June 14-20 as Pleasure Island Pride Week

The Oak Island Town Council will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. Meetings can be streamed here and here. The agenda includes: 

  • Public hearings on a rezoning, removing pools as an ADU and a proposal to add a shopping center less than 40,000 sq ft enclosed floor area as a by-right use in the community business zoning district.
  • A presentation of the budget
  • Consideration of sponsorship/naming policy
  • Adopting the economic development strategic plan
  • Consideration of MOU with Oak Island Water Rescue
  • Consider extending the paid parking season through the end of October

The Pender County Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 U.S. Highway 117. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Proposed Transportation Schedule Adjustment

Wednesday, May 13

The Oak Island Board of Adjustment will host a regular meeting at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers. The agenda includes two variance requests. Meetings can be streamed here and here.

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Board meets at 9 a.m. at 230 Government Center Drive. The agenda includes the FY 2027 budget and a resolution accepting low interest state loan for southside WRF replacement and capacity upgrade project. Meetings are streamed here.

The Topsail Beach Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. in town hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd. The agenda can be viewed here.

Thursday, May 14

The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will hold an agenda review at 11 a.m. in the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. Meetings are livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Wilmington Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Skyline Center, 929 N. Front St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • 814 Macumber Alley: New house construction
  • 214 McRae Street: After-the-fact approval of the location of an accessory building initially approved by COA# MJW-26-2511

  • Board and committee ordinance update
  • Set special meeting/public hearing for Historic Preservation District standards

The Navassa Planning Board will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Brunswick County Board of Adjustment will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m.  Meetings can be watched here. The agenda includes four special use permit applications:

  • For a Wood Waste Grinding Operation & Curtain Burner off Town Creek Road NE, Leland, NC, 28451.
  • For a “Class I Mining Operation” located at 1340 Makatoka Rd NW, Supply, NC, 28462.
  • For a Special Use Permit Modification for a “Major Utility” located at 250 Grey Water Rd, Supply, NC 28462.
  • For a “Major Utility” located at 5068 Andrew Jackson Hwy, Leland, NC 28451

Surf City Planning Board will meet at 214 W. Florence Way at 4 p.m. The agenda includes a rezoning C-1 to MU for Surf City Sound Side, LLC at 2107 N. New River Dr. and an annexation zoning recommendation to C-3 from Topsail Property Management, LLC at NC Hwy 50 for Tax Parcels 4235-39-1824-0000, 4235-39-2866-0000, and 4235-39-2716-0000. Friday, May 15

The Bald Head Island Village Council will host a meeting at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers. Meetings can be joined via Zoom here. The agenda includes:

  • Public hearing for the budget
  • Public hearing for an ordinance amendment to update statutory and building code references and otherwise modernize terminology
  • Public hearing to discuss a a proposed temporary development moratorium of 60 days or less within the PD-2C (Planned Development 2-Commercial) zoning district
