Four-month investigation leads to multiple drug charges for Wilmington man

26-year-old Wilmington resident Liqueonte Jones was arrested on May 15, charged with multiple felonies.

WILMINGTON — Following a four-month narcotics investigation, the Wilmington Police Department executed a search warrant on May 15 in the 200 block of Lullwater Drive, resulting in the seizure of 210 grams of methamphetamine, 72 grams of cocaine, and 426 grams of marijuana.

As a result of the operation, 26-year-old Wilmington resident Liqueonte Jones was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including:

  • Trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine
  • Felony possession of marijuana
  • 2 counts of manufacturing and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute a schedule II controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Felony to maintain a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substances 

Jones, who was already on parole for trafficking a schedule II substance, is currently held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center. 

Jones had his first appearance at 2:00 p.m. on May 16 in Courtroom 100, New Hanover County Courthouse. A secured bond was set at $700,000, but has not been met. A disposition hearing is set for June 5 at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 302.
