This is the largest expansion in the company’s history.

“Since the start of service at ILM just over two years ago, Avelo has continued to introduce travelers in the Wilmington area to a new era of affordability, convenience and industry-leading reliability,” Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy said in a press release.

Beginning Nov. 7, 2024, Avelo will operate both routes twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Avelo will be the only airline offering nonstop service between ILM and these two destinations with one-way fares starting at $62.

With the addition of Fort Myers (RSW) and Hartford (BDL), Avelo will serve eight nonstop destinations from ILM. Hartford joins Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Washington, D.C./Baltimore (BWI), Philadelphia/Delaware Valley (ILG) and three Florida destinations: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA).

The airline also reported flying more than 100,000 customers at ILM since it began operations there in June 2022.

“Avelo’s expanded presence at ILM increases their positive impact on our economy. In addition to the economic impact, they have been amazing community partners and we are thankful they continue to grow at ILM,” ILM Airport Director Jeff Bourk said in a press release.

Avelo also announced a partnership with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce’s Career and Leadership Development Academy and ILM to promote careers in aviation. Students will fly to Tampa and Fort Lauderdale and speak with airport officials and airline employees about their careers in aviation.
