WILMINGTON — Indie rock band Vampire Weekend will make a stop at Wilmington’s Live Oak Bank Pavilion in October as part of its North American headline tour.

The New York City-based group will take the stage downtown on Oct. 8. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 23 at 10 a.m.

Band members Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio and Chris Tomson will release their first album in half a decade titled “Only God Was Above Us” on April 5. Two songs from the record have already been released, “Capricorn,” and “Gen-X Cops.”

“Only God Was Above Us” will become the group’s fifth studio album, the first being their self-titled album in 2008. It produced chartin singles “A-Punk” and “Oxford Comma,” incorporating elements of indie pop, Afropop, and chamber music.

Their last two albums “Modern Vampires of the City” (2019) and “Father of the Bride” (2013) each received widespread critical acclaim, topping U.S/ charts and winning the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in their respective years.

Vampire Weekend’s Wilmington stop is among three in North Carolina; the band will perform at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater on Oct. 9 and Asheville’s Rabbit Rabbit on Oct. 13. At the Wilmington show, indie rock duo Cults will open for the group.
