Monday, September 18

Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda review at 8:30 a.m. at 102 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube.

Pender County Board of Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. at the Pender County Public Assembly Room, 805 S. Walker St. The meeting can be livestreamed here. A few items on the agenda include:

  • Resolution authorizing the transfer of Pender Memorial Hospital to Novant. Read PCD coverage here.
  • Consideration of approval for a contract with Pond & Company for design, engineering and construction admin for Central Pender Park
  • Request to proceed with RFQ for new library based on public input results

The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. at the NHC Historic Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on NHCTV and YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:

  • Update on NCDOT projects
  • Adoption of resolutions to accept NCDEQ grants
  • Approve award for construction contract to Stonehenge Building Inc. for stormwater services workshop building at 204 Division Drive.

Kure Beach Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. in council chambers at 173 Settlers Lane. A few items on the agenda include:

  • Continued discussion of beachwalk property
  • Joe Eakes Park renovation update and public input meeting
  • Committee business

The New Hanover County Schools Legislative Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at 1805 S. 13th St. The agenda can be found here.

The New Hanover County Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. at the board of education center, 1805 S. 13th St for a closed session.

Tuesday, September 19

Belville ABC Board will meet at 63 River Road at 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes discussions on employee pay raises and an HVAC bid for installation at a new store. The meeting is open to the public.

The North Topsail Beach Beach Inlet Sound Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. at town hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. The agenda can be found here. Update: This meeting has been rescheduled to Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m.

  • A public hearing to rezone 7.7 acres on Carolina Beach Road from moderate-density single-family to high-density, multiple-dwelling for a 225-unit development
  • Resolution authorizing the city manager to apply for a 2023 Cape Fear Opportunities and Needs grant for $4.5 million
  • Resolution to enter into an agreement with Agency Landscape + Planning, L.L.C. in the amount of $350,000 for the development of the Greater Downtown Special Area Plan

The New Hanover County Schools Policy Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at the board of education center, 1805 S. 13th St. The agenda can be found here.

Wednesday, September 20

Brunswick County Regional Water and Sewer H2GO will meet at 6 p.m. in Belville Town Hall, 63 River Rd. SE. The agenda includes an RO plant update from the director and administrative reports. The public is welcome to attend.

The North Carolina Society for Human Resource Management will host its 2023 conference at the Wilmington Convention Center. More than 600 attendees are expected to attend. Keynote speakers will include Wilmington Bitty and Beau’s Coffee founders Amy and Ben Wright, as well as Billboard-ranked musician Marcus Johnson,  also an NAACP Image Award nominee and owner of FLO Brands and FLO Wine, plus Mindshift Labs founder Mike Lee, and chief HRO officer April Simpkins of SHRM-CP, PHR. Registration is open here and the conference takes place through Sept. 22. 

Surf City Board of Adjustment will meet at 3 p.m. at Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.

The Wilmington Design Adjustment Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. at city hall, 102 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube. The agenda includes a design request variance by Circle K on Dawson Street.

The Bald Head Island Transportation Authority will meet at 9:15 at Indian Trail Meeting Hall, 113 W. Moore St. in Southport.

Thursday, September 21

Navassa Town Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Navassa Community Center, 338 Main St. An agenda was not posted by press and the public is welcome to attend the meeting.

The New Hanover County ABC Board will meet at 9 a.m. in the general office at 6009 Market St. An agenda was not posted by press; the public is welcome to attend.

Surf City Technical Review Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.

The Topsail Beach Beach Inlet Count Committee will meet at 2 p.m. at town hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd. The livestream and agenda can be accessed here.

Town of Burgaw Planning and Zoning Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington St.

The Southport Planning and Zoning Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay St. The meeting can be livestreamed here. A few items on the agenda include:

  • An update to the Comprehensive Plan
  • Text amendment regarding setbacks and encroachments

Friday, September 22

The Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority (WAVE Transit) will meet for a work session on Friday, Sept. 22, 1 p.m., in room 139 of the Government Center (230 Government Center Dr.). The agenda includes an update on ridership. It’s open to the public.
