WILMINGTON — An area shelter that opens on any two or more consecutive nights as temps drop below 30 degrees is planning to reopen its doors Sunday. It’s already opened a few times this winter.

The Warming Shelter will welcome people in need of warmth from Jan. 18 through 21. There is no barrier to entry, though it’s limited to 125 people. No drugs, weapons or alcohol are permitted in Grace United Methodist Church, located at 401 Grace St. Check-in daily is at 5 p.m. and checkout is at 9 a.m. daily.

Volunteers are still needed to help set up and close the shelter daily, as well as prep dinner, do laundry, clean the kitchen and more; signup is here.

Financial donations are accepted here and a wishlist of items are located here.
