The Warming Shelter ILM to open this weekend

WILMINGTON — As temperatures are expected to drop below freezing this weekend, a temporary shelter is preparing to take in those who are unsheltered.

The Warming Shelter will open to the first 100 people at Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Dec. 21-23. A ministry of Hope Recovery UMC, the shelter is organized in partnership of with Grace UMC and The Anchor UMC at 401 Grace St.

Check-in is at 5 p.m. and no pets are allowed.

Volunteers are being accepted for various roles with cleanup, cooking and serving, as well as checking in guests; see the signup here.
