WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — An annual tradition, the Wrightsville Beach Plunge is scheduled to take place on New Year’s Day.

Registration is now open for everyone who wants to brave the ocean’s cold temps; it’s $35. Through Dec. 3, a discount of $5 is given, good through 11:59 p.m. All proceeds from the Wrightsville Plunge are used to support Communities at Schools Cape Fear, which assists at-risk youth to ensure they have needed resources to be successful and stay in school.

The event takes place at 11 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Wrightsville Beach’s Crystal Pier. Registration includes choice of a hat, beach towel, tank, long sleeve or short sleeve tee!

For those who don’t want to take the plunge but want to participate in the afterparty, it’s $10 to do so, also open here.
