WILMINGTON – On Saturday, July 13, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina will host the 43rd annual Tri-Span 5K, 10K and Livestrong Mile Race events at Riverwalk Park in Wilmington.
Proceeds from event signups will go towards Livestrong, a YMCA health and wellness program dedicated to helping adult cancer survivors regain their health through a small-group specialized program.
“When I started working with the Livestrong program at the Nir Family YMCA, I had no idea the impact it would have — only that it was important to me as a recent cancer survivor to be able to help others cope with the challenges,” Lori Campbell, Livestrong instructor, said in a press release.
Participants can run or walk the 5K which follows an out-and-back course through downtown Wilmington, the 10K that includes the Cape Fear Memorial, S. Thomas Rhodes and Isabel Holmes bridges or the Livestrong mile on the Cape Fear Riverwalk.
Participants can either run races in person or virtually, where they can run their 5K or 10K anytime or anywhere. Routes will be open to vehicle traffic, but police and volunteers will help direct participants safely.
Tickets can be purchased here. Participants are encouraged to purchase tickets online prior to the race. The first event will be begin at 7 a.m., though it is recommended that participants arrive early to park and walk over to the start line.
