WILMINGTON — WellCare of North Carolina will host a block party on Saturday, Dec. 30, to help individuals and families navigate the Medicaid system and other health care benefits.
The event will take place at Lifepointe Church, 3534 South College Road in Wilmington from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This initiative aims to bring together beneficiaries, healthcare providers, and community organizations to provide education, services, and resources to attendees around Medicaid expansion, the redetermination process and essential services designed to improve health outcomes.
The family-friendly event will include:
- Information Booths: Sharing information to help beneficiaries understand Medicaid benefits, the redetermination process, and Medicaid expansion, as well as all WellCare resources and available community services designed to improve health outcomes.
- Community Engagement and Networking: Opportunities for attendees, WellCare, and its partners, to connect and foster a sense of community and support. The on-site community partner attending this event is Restored Styles (Mobile Barber Shop), and they will be offering free haircuts.
- Health Screenings and Services: Free Covid tests and masks will be available to take home.
In addition, this weekend’s Block Party Event will include a hot cocoa bar, DJ, photo booth, giveaways (Nike merchandise and local businesses) and a raffle for three Samsung Galaxy tablets.
