BRUNSWICK COUNTY — The social services department in Brunswick County is asking the community to participate in the season of giving by helping fulfill wishlists for children, youth and adults in the welfare system.

There are currently 370 children and 43 adults involved in the 2023 Angel Tree initiative which takes place through Dec. 15, 2023.

Trees are set up at:

  • Brunswick County Social Services (60 Government Center Drive NE, Bolivia, NC 28422)
  • Walmart Customer Service – Shallotte Supercenter (4540 Main St B3079, Shallotte, NC 28470)
  • Walmart Customer Service – Southport Supercenter (1675 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461)
  • Walmart Customer Service – Leland Supercenter (1112 New Pointe Blvd, Leland, NC 28451)
  • Community members and organizations are encouraged to take an angel from the tree, which represents a person in the system and their wishlist for the Christmas season. The benefactor is asked to fulfill the wishlist and drop off the donations — all new, unwrapped gifts — by a certain date; each gift must be tagged with the corresponding Angel Tree tag.

For folks who wish to shop online, a wishlist is also generated on Amazon here. Just select Brunswick County DSS at checkout for the correct service address. If Amazon gifts are accidentally sent to a participant’s home address, it can be dropped off during regular business hours inside Brunswick County Social Services (Building B) in Bolivia.

Social Services will not request donations be delivered or dropped off to any additional locations. Its team members deliver the donated gifts to families of children or adult recipients.

Questions or inquiries can be sent to brandi.rosenberg@brunswickcountync.gov or by calling 910.253.2384.
