Adopt your next companion!
My name is Sherman. I am a chihuahua/dachshund mix. I am a little guy who weighs about 15 pounds.
I do well with other dogs who aren’t wild and crazy and more my size. I have a touch of stranger danger, which means I am fearful of people and places I don’t know. Until I know you or feel comfortable in my surroundings, you have to go slow and let me earn your trust. I LOVE treats so one way to quickly win me over is through my belly.
I will need a patient owner who understands this and will further socialize me slowly. Someone familiar with either of these breeds I am mixed with (Chihuahua or dachshund) would be super helpful, since these breeds are known to be a bit more nervous and one-owner kind of breeds. I don’t need a home with kids or a home with lots of people coming or going. If you are interested in meeting me, please call Jill at 910-620-3783 and she can do a meet and greet and start the process where you can get to know me.
By the way, once you are in my circle, you are in and you can pick me up and hug me and touch me all over the place. But I don’t just let any stranger do that to me. Ask yourself this: Do you let any stranger just pick you up and touch you anywhere or do you tell them that’s not appropriate? Maybe our expectations of dogs are a bit bigger than we expect of people and that’s a bit unfair. If you look deep into my eyes right here in these pictures you can see I am a little apprehensive and you can see fear. It was my first time at Petco and it was a bit overwhelming. Please help me find my new owner. Type SHARING FOR SHERMAN as you share.
