BEAUFORT COUNTY — A woman reported missing in Wilmington July 29 has been found deceased in Beaufort County.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying Deborah Cavenaugh Blades was found by deputies on Sunday morning, Aug. 6.
Deputies had been responding to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked off Wonderland Road in the middle of thousands of acres of farm land. The white Chevy Equinox came back to the vehicle believed to be driven by Blades when she was last seen.
“Based on the information on Blades’ disappearance received from the Wilmington Police Department and the location of her vehicle, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office organized a search of the surrounding area,” the release states. “Members of the Pantego Fire Department, Chocowninity Fire Department, Beaufort County Emergency Management, The Coastal Carolina Search and Rescue Team, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the N.C. Highway Patrol Avaition Unit responded to assist in the search effort.
“After about six hours of searching, the body of Deborah Cavenaugh Blades was located about 400 feet from her vehicle,” the release states.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s release said there is no reason to suspect foul play. The cause of death is currently unknown. The Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville, N.C., will be investigating further.
