Football: North Brunswick comes up short on the road

Northside 27     North Brunswick 7

The Northside Monarchs carried a two-score lead into the second half and held off a feisty North Brunswick side 27-7 on Friday night.

Both teams combined for under 150 yards of total offense over the opening 24 minutes of play, but Northside carried a 14-0 lead into the break. Jonte McMullen made it a two score game late in the opening half after Demetrius Jones took an 84 yard punt return to the house to break a 0-0 game early in the second quarter.

North Brunswick saw its five-game winning streak snapped as the Scorpions fell to 4-1 in the East Central Conference and 7-3 overall. North Brunswick can still earn a share of the East Central Conference when the Scorpions head to East Duplin in their regular season finale on Friday, Nov. 4.
