Hoggard 35 Ashley 6
The Vikings ran off their third consecutive win with solid defense and a big game from quarterback Josh Jones as Hoggard rolled to a 35-6 win against Ashley.
With a 14-6 advantage moving into the second half, the Vikings started to flex its muscle after the break. A turnover by the Screaming Eagles on the opening possession of the third-quarter setup a six-yard pitch and catch from Quarterback Josh Jones to Collin Hairr to make 21-6 in favor of Hoggard.
Jones had a pair of touchdown during first half, including a 33-yard keeper into the end zone to put the Vikings ahead, 7-0 with 3:18 to play in the opening period.
Ashley was able to get some momentum back on a 14-play drive capped on a three yard run by Corey Whaley, but turnovers proved to be a difference maker for the Screaming Eagles as a fumble late in the second quarter turned into seven points for Hoggard. Jones hit Hairr on a 40-yard touchdown strike with under a minute to go in the frame to build some confidence moving into the final 24 minutes of action.

Christian Hollar and Isaiah Kemp both had an interception for the Vikings, who have now forced seven turnovers in the past two games. Tre Houser found the end zone on a 29-yard carry late in the game, while Jones and Hairr finished with four touchdowns connections on the night. Hairr has made a big impact in the passing game since his return earlier this month from a collarbone injury.
Hoggard moved to 4-1 in league play and 5-5 overall. The Vikings play host to Topsail on Friday, Nov. 5 on Senior Night at Scott Braswell Stadium. Ashley dropped to 1-5 in the division and 3-6 on the year. The Screaming Eagles look to snap a three-game skid next week at Laney.
