The University of Delaware captured its first-ever Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Golf Championship and the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Hens’ Andi Slane repeated as the individual medalist, finishing with a 70 (-2) in the final round on the par-72, 6,066-yard Reserve Club course at St. James Plantation in Southport.

Delaware, in just their fifth season as a program, posted a 306 in the final round to finish at 927 (+63), eight strokes ahead of second-place College of Charleston (+71). UNCW finished in third place at +74, while William & Mary was fourth at +76.
Holding a one-stroke lead over William & Mary senior Alessandra Liu entering the final three holes, Slane made par on 16 and 17 before recording a birdie on the final hole of the tournament to solidify her victory.
Slane finished the three-day event with a two-over, 218 (77-71-70). She became the first player to win consecutive CAA individual titles and only the second player in CAA history to earn medalist honors twice in her career.
Liu was the runner-up with a three-round score of four-over 220 (76-72-72). Senior Meghan Theiss and sophomore Kayla Thompson each carded a 7-over par score of 79 on Sunday as UNCW finished with a fourth-place effort. Theiss closed the tournament in a tie for sixth place after posting a 233 score, while Thompson earned a share of 17th place following a three-round score of 241.
The Seahawks, who held the lead after the opening round on Friday, posted a final round score of 318 to finish with a 940 team score, 13 shots back from Delaware.
