Baseball

Hoggard 2   Ashley 1

The Vikings scratched the game-winning run across the board in the top of the seventh to break a tie in a 2-1 victory against Ashley on Tuesday night.

Hoggard stayed in the hunt among division leaders, improving to 4-2 in conference and 12-3 overall. Ashley fell to 1-5 in league play and 6-11 on the year.

Christian Tafoya was stout in defeat, allowing two runs – none earned – on three hits, with two walks and six strikeouts over seven innings of work. Tafoya walked twice and plated the game-tying run for the Screaming Eagles in the fourth.

West Brunswick 13    North Myrtle Beach 3

Tyler Stanley led the way with three hits for West Brunswick as the Trojans rolled to its 15th win in a row following a 13-3 victory at North Myrtle Beach on Wednesday.

Stanley, Hunter Ashburn and Austin Turner each had two runs batted in. West Brunswick trailed 1-0 before scoring six runs in the top of the second.

The Trojans moved to 16-1 overall.

Jaheed Cason belted a pair of triples in the winning effort.

Hoggard 6    West Brunswick 0

The Vikings breezed to a 6-nil result against West Brunswick on Wednesday. Hoggard moved to 5-0-1 in conference and 9-1-4 overall.

Siara Southerland notched three scores, while Aimee Darrow, Chloe Whitaker, and Mary Ormsby each found the back of the net. Jess Bennion recorded two assists in the victory.
