Dustin Hunt and Tyler Robinson combined to shut out UNCW on seven hits as Northeastern clinched a Colonial Athletic Association series with a 3-0 win on Saturday at Friedman Diamond.
The Huskies improved to 3-2 in the league and 13-12 overall. The Seahawks, who have dropped their last three outings, fell to 15-9 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Hunt (3-2) scattered six hits and walked one, while striking out seven for the win. Robinson faced the minimum over his two innings for his first save of the season.
Northeastern plated single runs in the third, fifth and seventh. The first run came across on a RBI single and the final run in the seventh was unearned following a UNCW error.
UNCW starter Alex Royalty (5-2) took the loss despite a solid start. The freshman allowed two runs on six hits, walked none and struck out a career-high seven.
Casey Golden had three hits and Brian Mims had two doubles as UNCW was shutout for the first time this season.
Sunday’s contest in Boston was washed out due to inclement weather. The Seahawks continue an eight-game road trip with a 6 p.m. start at Campbell on Wednesday’s April 6.
