Ashley 26 Westover 24
Having lost 17 straight games dating back to their last victory on October 14, 2013, first-year Coach Jeff Turner has been steadfast in the process and confident his program was headed towards its first win.
After opening this season 0-3, getting key players back from injury off the bye week, including junior quarterback Caleb Parker, proved to make a big difference as the Screaming Eagles scored on their final drive of the game to pull out a 26-24 win over Westover on Friday night.

Ashley had been looking for that spark to bring some confidence to a team that’s struggled to find consistency and after the Wolverines took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter, Logan Black used a big kick return to set up the Screaming Eagles’ first scoring drive. Jacob Reed put Ashley on the board and the two-point conversion gave the home team a one-point edge before Parker dove in from two yards out just before the half to make it 13-8 at the break.
Bradley Pyler hasn’t shied from contact this season and the Ashley running back got going on a 35-yard touchdown run to give the Screaming Eagles a 19-8 advantage before the Wolverines ran off 16 unanswered points.
Ashley’s defense held strong late in the game to get the ball back, ultimately setting up the game-winner, a one-yard touchdown from Parker, as the Screaming Eagles were victorious on their home field for the first time in nearly two years.
