New Hanover 5 Laney 4
New Hanover pulled out a hard-fought 5-4 win over Laney Tuesday to move to 10-1 in conference and 12-2 overall.

With the match squared three-all after singles play, the Wildcats took two of three doubles matches to clinch the match.
Taylor Walicki and Dawson Cooper both picked up straight-set wins in singles and New Hanover’s top tandem set the tone with an 8-1 victory in doubles. Anna Catherine Lloyd also provided the Wildcats a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 5 to pull New Hanover even heading into doubles.
Lloyd and Louise Stephenson clinched the match at No. 3 with an 8-4 win over Jessica Tucker and Sydney Young.
The Wildcats (10-1, 12-2) face Hoggard on Wednesday. New Hanover is leading 3-2 as the No. 5 singles match and all three doubles will decide the rain shortened match from last week.

Hoggard swept doubles to earn a 7-2 victory over Ashley on Tuesday at the Jeff Holcomb Tennis Complex.

Hannah Marable and Lindsay Diab rolled to an easy 8-0 win at No. 3. The Vikings (10-4, 8-1 Mideastern) won 8-3 and 8-4 at No. 1 and 2, respectively.
In singles, Kara Ferner improved to 13-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1. Marable, Lindsay Diab and Paxton Brewer also captured victories at No. 3, 5 and 6.
Hoggard heads to New Hanover on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to complete a suspended match.
