The North Carolina Softball Coaches Association (NCSCA) released its All-State team for the four high school classifications this week and more than two dozen players from across the tri-county area earned a spot on the list.
Seniors Taylor Carter and Bailey Williams were atop the list after leading Ashley to a third-round playoff appearance, while teammate and rising senior, Schae Dickson, rounded out the trio of Screaming Eagles to make all-state.
Griffin Cox, Shelby Cook and Becca Montgomery represented Buctown on the roster, while Aleah Thompson and Nia Green helped Hoggard to an impressive season in a competitive Mideastern Conference.
West Brunswick and Topsail both had three players make the 3A All-State team.
Nicole Phillips, Caroline Gore and Maddlin Emmons helped the Lady Trojans to a strong fourth round showing in the state playoffs, a 17-9 overall mark and 9-3 record in the split 3A/4A Mideastern Conference.
Keri White, Hayley Grizzle and Danielle Parks kept the Pirates competitive after moving from 2A to 3A and jumping into a division with the four high schools in New Hanover County, along with West Brunswick.
After a breakout year in its first season in the newly aligned East Central Conference, North Brunswick had five on the 2A squad, while Trask put in a strong showing with four on the 1A list.
The All-State Selection Committee met during the week of the Powerade State Games softball showcase June 16-19 to finalize the annual list.
