Hoggard swept Laney 3-0 on Tuesday to lock up the Mideastern Conference title.
Cassidy Stephenson, Alyssa Zupan and Mary Anne Szymeczek combined for 33 kills, while Peyton Apel added 16 points.
Lillian Donovan had 13 digs for Laney.
The Lady Vikings are listed at No. 16 in the 4A rankings this week with a 13-6 overall record, 10-0 in conference.

Topsail battled back after going down two sets to one to pick up a big Mideastern Conference match on Tuesday. The win could eventually decide a higher seed for the Lady Pirates in the 3A state playoffs.
Jenna Register had an all-around effort with 20 points, 19 assists and 15 digs, and Kayla Hyatt added 13 kills. Chandler Skipper also had 23 points and 17 digs, while Reagan Holloway finished with 14 points, 11 kills and 10 digs.

After dropping the first set, Pender came back to dominate the next three games to clinch a share of the Four County Conference Title. Cassidy Miller served up nine aces and Katy Stewart chipped in with 15 assists. Alysssa Carter also added seven aces and combined for 17 kills with Brianna Pittman.
The Lady Patriots are 14-6 overall, 11-1 in conference, and play for the outright championship Thursday when they host Wallace on senior night.

Coastal Christian secured its first regular season conference title Monday with a 3-0 sweep on the road at Harrell’s Christian.
Junior Lydia Smith and sophomore Skyler Curran combined for 23 points, while Smith led all scorers with eight kills, three service aces and two blocks. Freshman Callie Beth Weaver added six kills and middle hitters Samantha Magee (four kills, two service aces and two blocks) and Brianna Hamilton (two kills and two blocks) balanced the scoring along with sophomore setter Logan Smith, who picked up 25 assists for the Lady Centurions.
The Lady Centurions will hold their senior night on Friday in a non-conference match at home against Epiphany Academy. Emily McKinney is the only senior on the squad and has enjoyed a successful season, currently ranked third overall in the state for digs amongst all liberos and defensive specialists.

The Wildcats kept pace atop the Mideastern Conference with a 4-0 result at Legion Stadium on Tuesday. Matt Johnson, Chris Davis, Jose Velasquez and Jesse Vassos all found the back of the net for New Hanover. Johnson and Davis also picked up assists in the win. New Hanover has a half-game lead over Hoggard for the league lead with a match at South Brunswick on Wednesday.

Trey Moore opened the scoring three minutes into the contest for Cape Fear Academy, while Logan Oberg and Tanner Paul put in two quick strikes just seven minutes later as the Hurricanes went on to beat Harrell’s Christian 8-0 on Tuesday.
Austin Diggs, Omar Murad and Jo Talbert also notched goals and Alec Wenning had three saves for CFA, who improved to 13-4-1 overall and 5-3 in conference.
Wilmington Christian 9 Bethel Christian 0
Chris Karras and Zak Sullivan each had two goals as WCA fired 29 shots in a 9-0 win against Bethel on Tuesday. Zach Morgan finished with four points in the game with a goal and two assists, and Karras added two more assists for the Patriots.

Julia Andrews recorded the hat trick and Rebecca McLean added a score, while Caitlin Smits had four saves as Cape Fear Academy shutout Parrott Academy 4-0 on Tuesday. Juliet Taylor also picked up two assists for the Lady Canes, who improved to 7-1 on the season.
