Cape Fear’s Kelly Sigmon ( Jodi Barber assist) and Jodi Barber (Amanda Fenton assist) scored.

Cape Fear Community College had 27 shots, while HCC had 12. Samantha Walker had two saves.

Cape Fear (9-0-1, 6-0) faces Wake Technical College at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Sophomore Sarah Fitzgerald recorded 15 kills to lead UNCW in its match at Hofstra Sunday

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Sophomore Kelsie Wills recorded 18 kills and .350 hitting percentage to lead Hofstra to a 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18) victory over UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action Sunday at theHofstraFitnessCenter.

The Pride improved to 13-8 overall and 1-2 in league play as it halted a two-match losing skid while the Seahawks dipped to 7-11 on the season and 0-3 in conference action.

“This is a tough loss for our team to swallow,” said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. “We need to be more consistent with our attacking and serve reception to compete at a higher level. This is certainly something we can learn from and will have to rebound from quickly.”
