Dunkin’ Donuts opens new Wilmington store with free coffee

WILMINGTON — A popular donut and coffee shop will be giving away a year-long gift at its Tuesday grand opening.

Dunkin’ Donuts is turning on the open sign at 3500 S. College Rd., formerly a bank, on Oct. 29. Starting at 5 a.m. the first 100 people will receive free coffee for a year, available only with in-store purchases. There will be other giveaways, face painting, a live DJ and a ribbon-cutting.

The ribbon-cutting will take place at 9 a.m. and franchise owner George Ross also will present a $5,000 check to Special Olympics of North Carolina on behalf of the Coastal Franchising network.

The 1,600 square-foot restaurant, opening from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, seats 20 people and will employ 35 crew members. It has complimentary Wi-Fi and Dunkin’s signature cold beverages are served through an innovative tap system.

The Dunkin’ Next Gen restaurant is constructed with sustainable and efficient elements like LED lighting, high-efficiency mechanical equipment, low-flow faucets, and more. DD Green Achievement restaurants are 33% more energy efficient and have dedicated mobile order pick-up area so guests for call-ahead orders.

Coastal Franchising LLC currently owns and operates 128 Dunkin’ locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
