WILMINGTON — Andy Frasco and the. U.N. performed Saturday in Wilmington, with opener Caleby Hawley.
According to photographer Tom Dorgan, it was a slightly different show as three of the regular UN members were not in attendance. Animated guitarist Shawn Eckels has been out due to a knee injury and sax player Ernie Chang has a newborn, while bass player Floyd Kellogg also was absent. But the energy didn’t subside.
“The guys filling in did a great job and Caleb Hawley, the opener, also joined Frasco’s set on guitar,” Dorgan said. “Another new member to Frasco’s band is Allie Kral on violin; she was in Yonder Mountain String Band prior. While the dynamic on stage was a little different, the band sounded great and the show was a lot of fun.”
The band is touring in support of their 10th studio album, “Growing Pains,” produced by Frasco. The release features collabs with other well-known musicians, such as Billy Strings on “Life Is Easy,” which was played Saturday, along with the title track and “Tears in My Coke.”
