WILMINGTON — Fresh off three Grammy wins earlier this month, Jelly Roll’s national tour has been announced for this summer — and Wilmington is one of the stops.
Jelly Roll will perform at downtown’s Live Oak Bank Pavilion on June 8. Tickets go on sale this week.
The artist has captured the ears — and hearts — of music fans, with a sound blending raw Southern rock and hip-hop with country outlaw power. Jelly Roll won in 2026 the Grammy for Best Contemporary Country Album for “Beautifully Broken,” Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Amen,” and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
Also known as Jason Bradley DeFord, Jelly Roll got his start more than a decade ago in collaboration with Memphis rapper Lil Wyte on “Pop Another Pill.” It garnered a strong YouTube following and laid the groundwork for Jelly Roll to release mix tapes independently ahead of his 2012 debut studio album “The Big Sal Story.”
Since, the artist has collaborated on multiple albums with Lil Wyte and Struggle Jennings — the latter is the grandson of instrumental rock guitarist Duane Eddy and country musician Jessi Colter, the step-grandson of Waylon Jennings.
In 2022, he garnered mainstream fame with the release of singles “Son of a Sinner” and “Need a Favor” — the former winning three CMT Music Awards. He also was nominated with the song “Save Me,” a duet with Lainey Wilson that topped 11 on the U.S. Country charts.
The artist has released more than a dozen albums to date, on his own and in collaboration with other artists.
He’s currently on tour through July, with a June 9 stop in Charlotte, NC, as well. Tickets to Wilmington’s show go on sale Friday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m.
