BURGAW — A concert series will kick off this month, hosted by the Pender Arts Council in Burgaw.

Over the next five months, a Blueberry Jam Concert — in partnership with Burgaw Now, Monotone, Visit Pender and Visit Burgaw — will take place the second Friday at Dees Park on Courthouse Avenue. Music will be featured from area bands and performers, a pop-up market will take place and there will be a classic car cruise-in.

The pop-up market, taking place at the nearby Pender Arts Council building at 111 S Wright Street, will feature local artisans, handmade goods, and unique finds, opening at 5 p.m. The concerts take place at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and attendees are welcome to bring a chair and picnic (no alcohol). It’s a free event as well, with individually priced wares for purchase from artisans and makers.

“It’s a great opportunity to support local musicians, artists, makers, and the arts while bringing the community together,” Eden Mills, president of Pender Arts Council, said in a press release.

Event dates are April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, and August 8. The first concert will feature Wilmington band Striking Copper; other bands have not been released.

Folks who wish to vend as part of the arts market can visit here or email penderartscouncil@gmail.com.
