WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department announced Military Cutoff Road reopened after a gas leak caused the department to block the street off to Eastwood Road and Wrightsville Avenue in both directions Monday afternoon.
Wilmington Fire Department and Piedmont Natural Gas were at the scene helping to repair a gas leak at the intersection of Military Cutoff and Commonwealth.
“A construction worker cut a gas line,” Fire Department safety captain Robert Patterson told Port City Daily.
A representative of Piedmont Natural Gas said someone called in the leak. Piedmont turned off the gas to facilitate repairs.
