Castle Hayne Road bridge temporarily closed at Smith Creek

WILMINGTON — After a container truck wrecked into the steel truss Castle Hayne Road bridge, NCDOT has closed the passthrough and rerouted drivers to N.C. 133 and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway (U.S. 74).

The NCDOT will further review and inspect the bridge’s damage before reopening. Crews are expected to do so Monday, and thereafter — hopefully by next week — NCDOT said it will release a timetable of repair completion.
