KURE BEACH—Java lovers and, apparently, hippies can rejoice. Kure Beach looks like it will be getting its first coffee shop.
109 K Avenue, formerly occupied by Shirt Shack, is being renovated to make way for Happy Hippies Java Hut.

The interior has been updated with a pop of color, new floors and will include cabinets and a coffee bar. According to the business’s Instagram page, customers can expect coffee, smoothies, sweet tea and “groovy handmade stuff.”
Burlap coffee bags from South America are decorated along the walls, along with bamboo siding. The 475 square foot shop is situated between Hi-Tech Arcade and Jack Mackerels Island Grill in the Kure Beach business district.
This will be the first coffee-specific shop for Kure Beach residents, who would otherwise need to travel into Carolina Beach for a caffeine fix.
Follow Happy Hippies Java Hut on Instagram to keep up with construction updates for the future Kure Beach business.
