LELAND — Just in time for spring, Bluestar Kitchen Bar opened its doors in downtown Leland.

The restaurant, the first brick and mortar location from Stephen Harrington, the chef and owner of Steviemack’s International Company Food Truck.

Running the food truck for the last two years, Harrington has developed a following, and he’s known for blending low country cuisine and southern cuisine with the recipes he mastered during his time in South East Asia and the Pacific.

Blue Star Kitchen Bar opened quietly on Friday, March 23. The following day, Harring was in the kitchen cooking, but took a minute to comment on the opening.

“It’s been really good, we had a good crowd for dinner and some people just hanging out at the bar,” Harrington said. “Feels good to be a neighborhood place.”

The restaurant is serving a lunch, dinner and features a Brunch-only Sunday; the full bar is open, serving several Wilmington-area beers on tap. Harrington said he’s eyeing a grand opening later in the Spring.
