WILMINGTON — Steam restaurant, located in the Embassy Suites hotel on the Riverwalk, will open to the public tomorrow evening.
After several minor delays, due to “technical difficulties,” General Manager Nicole Boudrieau said Steam will open Saturday night at 5 pm. The restaurant was originally slated to open before Christmas, but inspections by the city and the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority took longer than expected.
According to Boudrieau, the restaurant will not be taking reservations for its opening weekend.
The restaurant will be serving a full dinner menu on Saturday, and lunch and dinner on Sunday.
Steam’s full bar will also be open, serving local beers — including “Blair’s Stout” and “Tropical Lightning IPA” from Wilmington Brewing Company, and “Preachy ESB” and “Private Dancer” Belgian Pale Ale from New Anthem Beer Project — as well as several regional North Carolina beers.

Steam will be open for lunch, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., a limited bar menu from 3 – 5 p.m., and will serve dinner from 5 – 11 p.m. nightly. Steam’s sister restaurant, No. 9 – a ninth floor rooftop bar and restaurant – is still slated to open in the spring of 2018.
