Police: fatal downtown Wilmington shooting was ‘isolated incident’

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred downtown over the weekend.

According to the Police Department, a 27-year-old Jacksonville man was fatally shot. Police responded to 273 N. Front St. around 6:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, where they found the man, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Police declined to say if there were any suspects at large or in custody. Spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron said the shooting was an “isolated incident,” and that there was no concern of an at-large gunman.
