WILMINGTON — Labor Day is here, and bargain hunters across the Port City are gearing up to take advantage of big sales taking place from downtown to the beach.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the so-called “workingmen’s holiday” was originally created to celebrate laborers in the late 19th Century. Held each year on the first Monday in September, the holiday generally represents the end of summer, and is marked by barbecues and savings as summer fashions and products phase into fall.
Port City Daily has compiled a list of five local businesses offering savings on items ranging from surfing and fishing gear to clothing and entertainment.
