UPDATE: Sheriff’s Office searching for man who went missing in Porters Neck

UPDATE: Per New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jerry Brewer, the search for Michael Christian Chapman has been called off.

WILMINGTON — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who went missing on Sunday.

Michael Christian Chapman, 56, was last seen at a residence in Porters Neck at 620 Wild Dunes Circle. At the time he was wearing a button-down short-sleeve shirt, brown shorts and camouflage Crocs, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Chapman is a five-foot-eight-inch white male, weighting approximately 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and short brown hair. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he has a scar on his chest from open heart surgery.
