UPDATE: Silver Alert canceled for 80-year-old Calabash man

UPDATE: This alert was canceled at around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 at the request of the sheriff’s office.

CALABASH – A Silver Alert has been issued for 80-year-old Joseph Presti, a missing man from Calabash who is believed to be endangered.

Presti, of Ridgewood Drive in Calabash, was reported missing by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office early Monday morning, according to a notice issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for Presti, who is believed to be suffering from dementia, or some other cognitive impairment.

Presti is a white male who is 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and short hair. The missing man could to be operating a 2001 GMC Sonoma, tan in color, with North Carolina license plate number 5236HD.

Anyone with information about Presti or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office at 910-253-7490 or call 911. The Silver Alert for Presti can also be found on the state’s public safety website.
