WILMINGTON — Ron McNally passed away peacefully in his home on November 3, 2026, surrounded by love and the comfort of family.
Born on Long Island, New York, to Edward and Julia McNally, Ron grew up in New York, where he became a fan of the New York Yankees, who gave him many championships to celebrate, and the New York Jets, who brought him more than a little angst. He also developed a lifelong love of music, playing guitar and singing with a band during his college years. He went on to graduate from Hofstra University with a degree in Business Administration.
New York was also where he would eventually meet the love of his life, Rosemarie, at a discotheque in Greenwich Village. That chance meeting began a beautiful love story that spanned more than 55 years of marriage, two wonderful children, Ryan and Erin, and a lifetime of memories together.
Ron enjoyed a successful 30-year career with General Mills, which brought his family to Pennsylvania and then to Minnesota. Throughout his career, he was not only a respected colleague but also a mentor to many, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to work alongside him.
After retiring to Wilmington, North Carolina, Ron enjoyed a mix of lifelong passions and new pursuits, including golf (even if the occasional round came with a few choice words), traveling, and enjoying a good glass of wine. He also volunteered with Good Shepherd Center, Champions Assisted Living, and Catholic Charities. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Ron had a wonderful sense of humor — from questionable dad jokes to more highbrow fare, and everything in between — and a deep love for the people in his life.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie; his son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Vanessa; his daughter, Erin, and son-in-law, Clark, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his three adored grandchildren, Marisa, Everett, and Daniela, who brought him immeasurable joy and were a constant source of pride and happiness. He shared a special bond with his sisters-in-law, Sandy and Camille, whom he considered the best sisters-in-law a man could ask for. Ron’s love for family extended to Sandy’s significant other, Tim; Camille’s husband, Harry; and his nephew Joseph, Camille’s son.
Above all, Ron will be remembered for the love he had for his family, the friendships he cherished, and the laughter and memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Currently, we are planning a small, private service for the immediate family. Many of you have asked how you can honor Ron, and we invite you to consider making a gift in his memory to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, whose team cared for Ron with such compassion and dignity.
Our family is grateful for all your love, warm thoughts, and prayers.
