Waylon “Daylon” Adams (Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel & Sea Lawn Memorial Park)

WILMINGTON — Waylon “Daylon” Adams, 48, passed away Saturday September 26th, 2026, at NHRMC in Wilmington North Carolina.

Waylon, or Wade as he was known to his friends and loved ones; was born on October 17th, 1977 in New Bern North Carolina to Ronnie and Eleanor Adams. He grew up in the small town of Maysville North Carolina, or as he called it later Chitlinswitch. That small town remained a large part of his life even as life and himself carried him to many different places over the years. His trek across the country most recently found him in the DFW area of Texas and finally back to North Carolina.

Throughout life Wade had several careers but found himself drawn to hospitality management. From hotels in Denver, to working as a facility manager for the U.S Navy. It was fitting that Wade chose that path as he genuinely loved people. Wade had a way of putting himself out into the world; meeting people from every walk of life, making connections with them, and leaving behind friends wherever life happened to take him.

Those who knew him will remember his incredible sense of humor, his immense goofiness, his four distinct laughs, and his patented Legally Blonde stomp and pout. He loved to laugh, loved making others laugh, and had a gift for making life a little more fun just by being part of it. He loved his friends and family deeply. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. Above all this, he was a truly beautiful person to whom the relationships he made in life were deeply treasured.

Waylon is survived by his parents, Eleanor, and Ronnie Adams. His brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Rachel Adams. His nephews, Sean Adams and his wife Amanda and their daughter Charlotte; and Zachary Adams and his wife Rebekah and their sons: Cain, Malichai, Jude, and Adonis. He is also survived by his best friend and brother from another mother, Rob Morse-Ellington, Liam Pickard whom resided in a very special place in his heart, and a life’s worth of cherished friends.

Wade lived a life full with people. He loved them, laughed with them, and welcomed them into his world. A truly special place to be allowed. He is deeply loved, deeply missed, and will be remembered with more than a few stories that can’t be printed in an obituary.

Fly high now, brah.

We love you.
